Dream of destination wedding in Bali? Well, Andy and Rachael’s union might inspire you to have your very own magical ceremony. Rachael shares…”Andy proposed to me on my birthday over a family dinner at Prego, The Westin, Kuala Lumpur. Je filmed a 10-minutes clip and when I was watching the clip in tears, he kneeled down beside me with a bouquet of purple roses and an engagement ring. He then popped the magical question and we held each other tightly in our arms with applauding audience the second I said “yes”.”
The theme
“Our wedding theme is ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ which is to have our guests enjoy themselves to the fullest. Its not meant to be just another wedding but instead to be enjoying the trip and have a tremendous time in the Island of Gods. There is no dress code or colour scheme required throughout the entire wedding ceremony.”
The venue
“We decided on a destination wedding and we had three parts of wedding celebration on our big day. We had our ceremony at Amanda Chapel, Bali, a cozy and romantic place. Then, we had reception dinner by the pool overlooking the ocean at Four Seasons Resort, Jimbaran, Bali. The hundreds of floating candles in the pool, countless candles surrounding the reception area, hanging lampions on trees, pink roses and blue hydrangea as centerpieces on the long reception table made the night a perfect and romantic one, not forgetting the perfect weather; windy and breezy. The highlight of the reception would be the “Polaroid Event” where each and every attendees was asked to pullout silly faces with them captured in polaroid and subsequently, were all hung and displayed for everyone’s leisure and viewing.”
The budget
“A destination wedding is certainly a pricey wedding considering that all our guests flew in to Bali, most of our vendors were engaged locally and were all flew to Bali and there were countless handpicked items which were exported to Bali particularly for the wedding. Nonetheless, our wedding is priceless and it is beyond measurable in monetary terms.”
Memorable moments
“There were three events that I would say is most memorable. First, the surprise visit from two of my closest cousins who initially refused to make an appearance. Then, they flew all the way to Bali and showed right at moment I stepped out of my changing room in my gown. Secondly, the speech from both my sister, Joelle and Brandy during the reception, it was heart-warming and emotional. Last but not least, the expressions and state of joy on each and all of our guests’ during the surprise fireworks session was indescribable and utmost priceless.”
