Choosing Your Flowers!
Yesterday was the first official summer so we thought we'd re-share with you some great tips from on choosing your flowers! With so many beautiful blooms to choose from, picking your wedding day flowers can be quite overwhelming. Ensure that you pick the perfect flowers by following these tips from Academy Florist!
1) Come with an open mind. There are SO many different types of flowers out there, that often as florists we don’t get to use because our bride’s have a very specific idea of what they want and don’t want to see anything else. You never know - I might have the perfect addition to your ideas!
2) Start with a colour palette, and then let your florist suggest blooms that will fit with the colours you’ve chosen. Please please please tell us what your favourite flowers are and if there’s anything you definitely don’t want included, and then let us suggest things. That’s where the magic happens!
3) Don’t feel the need to pick all of your flower types before coming in. It’s awesome when brides have ideas of what they’d like to see, because that really helps give direction to our consultations, but you don’t need to have every last detail chosen. The best way to ensure you have a great flower consultation is bringing us your ideas: the style/shape/size you’d like, colour swatches, flower preferences. But our favourite bouquets often end up being for brides who are open and trust our choices—this means that if we happen to find the perfect addition to your bouquet from one of our suppliers, we can add it in to finish the look perfectly.
4) If you’re on a really tight budget, then make sure we know right at the start. That will help us form ideas about the size of the bouquet and selection of blooms that we can suggest.
5) Tight budgets don’t have to mean itty bitty bouquets or less-than-glamorous bloom choices. If you’re open to different flower choices, it will allow us to create a stunning bouquet that will fit into your budget AND be the style that you dream of. But it helps when you’re not set on particular flower choices or colours, because it gives us more freedom to get creative.
